PRESS RELEASE
New E-Transport Card Adoption a Success as Commuters Embrace New System
Suva, Fiji – August 8, 2025: Vodafone Fiji is pleased to announce a significant achievement in the adoption of its new E-Transport System, with over 427,000 new E-Transport cards successfully issued to commuters across the nation. This rapid uptake indicates the public's user-acceptance of modern and efficient public transportation.
Recent statistics indicate that a total of 321,000 new E-Transport cards have been used for fare payment at least once by the commuters since the launch demonstrating immediate engagement with the new E-Transport system. This high initial usage rate reflects the successful transition of the vast majority of Fijian commuters to the new E-Transport system.
While the adoption rate is exceptionally high, Vodafone Fiji acknowledges that over 100,000 new E-Transport cards, though registered and issued to commuters, have not yet been used for any fare payment thus far as these commuters may not be frequent travelers. The company encourages these cardholders to begin utilizing their new E-Transport cards to experience the benefits firsthand.
On a daily basis, the new E-Transport system processes approximately 125,000 unique E-Transport card transactions which are being actively being used by commuters. In line with this strong daily usage, figures indicate that an impressive 99.5% of all commuters are now utilizing their new E-Transport cards, fully maximizing the benefits and features that the new E-Transport system offers, including convenience, speed, and transparency in fare collection.
Subsequently, the adoption of the new E-Transport app and the convenience it offers has been exponential. Over 100,000 downloads of the app have been done so far by commuters with a major shift to top-up and redeem services for the new E-Transport cards now to the app. An impressive 20% of all top-ups and redeem transactions are now happening from the app showcasing its adoption and the convenience it offers to consumers.
Furthermore, Vodafone Fiji has identified approximately 700 customers who are still using their old E-Transport cards. The Customer Care team has proactively initiated contact with these individuals to determine their current locations and facilitate a seamless upgrade or replacement to the new E-Transport card. This ongoing effort ensures that every Fijian commuter is assisted in transitioning to the new E-Transport system.
Vodafone Fiji remains committed to enhancing the public transportation experience for all Fijians and will continue to provide full support to commuters on the new E-Transport system. We also encourage customers to call our toll-free line on 151 if they are still using the old E-Transport cards and Vodafone will assist them to upgrade to the new E-Transport cards.
