M-PAiSA International Money Transfer Outwards - Frequently Asked Questions

M-PAiSA international money transfer outwards allows registered M-PAiSA users to send money outside Fiji as a person-to-person money transfer. The service is enabled to send money to Vanuatu, Samoa and Cook Islands. More countries will be added in due course and users shall be advised accordingly.

The M-PAiSA International Money Transfer Service is available through the M-PAiSA App only.

1. How do I use this service?

To use the service, you must:

  • a) Be a registered M-PAiSA User.
  • b) Customer TIN letter or joint FNPF-FRCS uploaded & Approved.

2. Do I have to register for this service every time I want send money overseas?

No, you only have to register once and thereafter the service will is accessible by you every time you want to send money overseas.

3. How much money can I send outside Fiji? Is there a limit?

You can send a maximum of FJD $2,000 per year per person in international money transfer either as a single transaction or combined total value in smaller amounts. You do not require Reserve Bank of Fiji (RBF) approval to send the first $2000 in a calendar year.

Once, you exceed the $2,000 limit, you will need RBF or RBF and FRCS approval to send money outside Fiji in excess of $2,000.

4. Is there a minimum send amount?

The minimum amount you can send via this service is FJD$25.

6. How will the money be received by the beneficiary?

The funds will be credited to the beneficiary’s mobile wallet in their local currency. For example, if you are sending from Fiji to Vanuatu, the recipient will receive the equivalent amount in Fijian Dollars (FJD) converted to Vanuatu Vatu (VUV) within the M-Vatu mobile wallet. Similarly, for transfers to Samoa, the beneficiary will receive the amount in Samoan Tala via the M-Tala mobile wallet, and for the Cook Islands, the amount will be credited in New Zealand Dollars (NZD) through the E-Moni mobile wallet.

7. How do I know how much will be beneficiary will receive?

When you enter the FJD amount you wish to send, it will automatically calculate and display the equivalent amount in the receiving currency on the MPAiSA App. Alternatively, you can enter the amount you want the beneficiary to receive in their home currency and it will calculate the equivalent FJD amount you will need to send.

8. How will the beneficiary access the funds?

The beneficiary will be able to access the funds on the terms and conditions of service provider at the receiving end. They could either cash or use digital payment options in their market.

9. What if I send money to a wrong person/number?

It is important for you to enter correct details including their name and account/mobile wallet number to which you are sending money. If you enter wrong number, there is little chance of you recovering your money. M-PAiSA will assist as best as possible, but there is no guarantee.
