Celebrating 20 Years of Impact A Partnership that Transformed Lives Across Fiji and the Pacific

August 29th, 2025

28 August 2025 marked a truly momentous occasion—a day dedicated to honoring a partnership that has transformed thousands of lives across Fiji and the Pacific.

We came together to celebrate the 20th anniversary of PhysioNet UK and 16 years of dedicated partnership with Mr. Peter Gordon Thompson—a collaboration that has brought mobility, dignity, and hope to countless individuals.

From #VanuaConnect to #PacificConnect and now #GlobalConnect, this journey has been defined by a shared vision of inclusion and empowerment.

A Legacy of Life-Changing Impact

This celebration was not just about time—it was about the tangible difference made over two decades:

  • 📦 Over $30 million worth of mobility devices and services delivered to Fiji.

  • 🚢 More than 25 forty-foot containers shipped under the #VanuaConnect banner, reaching communities most in need.

  • 🌍 PhysioNet UK’s global impact: 100,000 items, 175 containers, and support extended to 33 countries worldwide.

At the event, the Vodafone ATH Fiji Foundation presented an award to Mr. Peter Gordon Thompson, recognizing his unwavering commitment and partnership in this life-changing mission.

Honoring a Visionary Legacy

We also paid heartfelt tribute to the late Mr. Joshco Wakaniyasi, whose vision and handshake with partners forged the foundation of this journey. His spirit of hope continues to guide and inspire our mission.

Community at the Heart of Change

This achievement belongs to the entire community.
Vinaka Vakalevu to:

  • Dedicated clinicians, volunteers, and staff

  • Supportive families and organizations who stood side by side in this mission

Your collaboration has been the cornerstone of every milestone reached.

Looking Ahead: The Journey Continues 🚀

As we step into the future, the Vodafone ATH Fiji Foundation announced a new grant of $30,000 to fund the shipment of the next container—ensuring the continuation of this vital work.

The event also featured the soft launch of #GlobalConnect by Professor Pal Ahluwalia, marking the next chapter in building a more inclusive and resilient Pacific under a “Pacific First Policy.”

Together, we are not only providing mobility equipment—we are unlocking access to education, employment, and opportunity.

A Collective Celebration of Partners

This milestone would not have been possible without the steadfast support of our partners and stakeholders:

  • British High Commission

  • National Council for Persons with Disabilities

  • PhysioNet UK

  • Ministry of Health & Medical Services – Fiji

  • Ministry of Women, Children and Social Protection – Fiji

  • Ministry of Finance – Fiji

  • Ministry of Trade, Co-operatives, SMEs and Communications

  • Fiji Revenue and Customs Service

  • Rotary Pacific Water for Life Foundation

Vinaka Vakalevu to all for making this celebration truly special.
