Using Vodafone Roaming

After you've been setup for roaming then when you arrive you will automatically connect to the strongest network in the area.
You will normally receive a TXT from the network you have connected to advising on how to get local support if you need it.

If you want to keep your costs down then you will need to pick the network offering the lowest rates.

This is quite simple to do. Dependent on which mobile you have you scroll to 'Settings', 'Network', 'Network selection' choose 'Manual'.

Your phone will now search the area for all available networks and you then can choose the network you wish to use.

It is possible for your phone to change networks by itself as your phone may at times search for the strongest signal and connect to it.

To 'play it safe' check which network is displayed on your screen before using your phone, if it has changed you can perform another manual network selection and change the network over.

Making calls while Roaming

When making calls both nationally and internationally first enter the '+' symbol, this prefix acts as the International Access Code, therefore you do not have to remember all international access codes.

Calling a landline:

Int'l Code or '+' Country Code + Area Code + Tel. Number

Calling a Mobile:

Int'l Code or '+' Country Code + Mobile Number

If the area code or mobile number starts with a '0' then this will need to be removed from your number.
Here are some frequent examples that will help.

Sydney +61 2 9345678
Austalian Mobile +61 4 5678900
Auckland +64 9 3564890
NZ Mobile +64 21 456789
Fiji +649 9902123
Fiji Mobile +679 9012345
Receiving a Call

If someone back home in Fiji needs to get in touch with you they can Call or TXT to your normal mobile number and these will be automatically forwarded to you in the country you are roaming in. If the person trying to call you is in the same country as you are in or they are in any other country apart from Fiji they will need to dial the international number to get through. Simply dial +679 then your Vodafone number if they are using a mobile or from a landline dial the international access code then your Vodafone number.

Australia International access code is 0011, New Zealand international access code is 00.

Using your Vodafone Voicemail while Roaming

You will need to get your Voicemail number from Vodafone before you leave which Vodafone always fax, email or simply lets you know when you get setup for roaming.

Just dial +679 (your voicemail number) and enter your special 4 digit security code when greeted by the automated operator.
