VODAFONE CUSTOMERS MUST REGISTER FLASHNET SIM CARDS

30 July, 2010

Vodafone is urging users of Pre-paid Flashnet, its Mobile Broadband Internet service, to register their Data SIM cards when registering their mobile phone SIM cards.  This follows questions from Flashnet users about whether SIM cards used in the modems of their devices were included under the Phone Decree.

Confirming this, Vodafone Corporate Affairs Manager, Shailendra Prasad said, "The Phone Decree refers to all SIM cards regardless of whether they're for voice as in mobile phones, or for data as in Flashnets, in Vodafone's case."

"In the case of pre-paid Flashnet, we urge our customers to register the SIM cards in their devices as this is included in the Decree.  Post-paid Flashnet users need not re-register as we already have their photo identification," Mr Prasad added.

Telecommunications companies have been given till August 21st to register their customers or terminate the service of those who have not registered.
