Soccer Fans to Choose FFAs Most Popular Player of 2009

28 January, 2010

Fiji’s soccer-loving public will choose which player wins the Fiji FA- Air Pacific Most Popular Player of the Year Award at the annual awards night which will be held on Saturday 6th of February at Suva’s Nobel House.

After the success of the Vodafone Mirchi All-Stars concept, where the public chose a team made up of their favourite district reps to play Navua in a two-match series last year, the FFA decided that fans should also be the ones to choose their favourite player of the 2009 season.

The six players nominated by the FFA to be in the running for the award are Pita Bolaitoga (Labasa), Keni Doidoi (Ba), Kamal Hassan (Lautoka), Pene Erenio (Navua), Thomas Costa (Nadroga) and Eni Tinai (Labasa).

Fans have until 10am on the day of the awards to text their favourite player’s name to 821 for their votes to be included in the poll.  The winner of the award will be determined solely by TXT voting and the player who receives the highest number of votes wins.

But players aren’t the only ones in the running for prizes; there are 25 sets of Fiji FACT Tournament Grand Stand Tickets, 15 Nivea gift packs and $3500 worth of free talktime for lucky fans to win just for TXTing.

The poll is now open to all Vodafone and Inkk customers and the number to TXT to is 821 and each TXT costs 99cents.

The codes for the nominated players are
o Pita for Pita Bolaitoga
o Keni for Keni Doidoi
o Kamal for Kamal Hassan
o Pene for Pene Erenio
o Thomas for Thomas Costa
o Eni for Eni Tinai ( women soccer)
