Answered Prayers for TXT Rush Winners

25 February, 2010

A Suva nurse who got a Vodafone Tertiary SIM when she was in nursing school in 2008 and used the free SMS that come with her SIM Card to try and get her missionary husband home from Papua New Guinea, ended up winning a Nokia 3120 3G phone and $1, 500 in Vodafone’s TXT Rush promotion today (24/02/10).

Merewalesi Salu, whose husband Jo was amongst a group recently released by Papua New Guinean officials, said the free SMS’s that came with the Tertiary SIM from Vodafone enabled her to keep in touch with him while he was in Port Moresby. Her 3.5 Vodastar rating earned her the cash prize. Husband, Jo is no stranger to winning with Vodafone, having himself won a 3G phone during a promotion in conjunction with MaiMix FM.

Meanwhile, Uma Devi a mother of three from Nausori was overjoyed when she was presented with a Nokia N95 handset and then could not believe her ears when she was told she’d also won $1000 for having a 2 Star Vodastar rating.

She said she’d never won anything before and guessed she might have won a phone, but the cash prize was beyond what she’d hoped for. Her 14 year old son who’d been asking for a phone stands to inherit her old handset.
