A visit by Miss South Pacific, Merewalesi Nailatikau will be the highlight of tomorrow’s (Saturday 5th) Christmas Carolling Challenge at the Vodafone Triangle featuring choirs and vocal groups from the greater Suva area.
Miss Nailatikau, who is also the Vodafone Miss Fiji Hibiscus, will join artists from Vodafone MIC and Pacific Has Talent to transform the center of Suva City into a musical stage tomorrow between 10am and 2pm.
“We’d like everyone to enjoy the music, the Christmas Carols, the giveaways and of course meet Merewalesi tomorrow (Saturday 5th) and we’re making sure there’s local talent on show in the form of Vodafone MIC’s Ana Silivale and Paulini Boutani as well as Pacific Has Talent artists,” Vodafone’s Chief Marketing Officer, Avanthi Senaratne said.
“Christmas is incomplete without carols so we’ve organised a choir competition over the next three Saturdays featuring family and church groups. Not only is entry into the competition free of charge, we’re giving each vocalist in the competition free talk time as well as cash prizes to the top three,” Ms. Senaratne added.
Tomorrow’s competition will feature small groups between 4 and 10 voices including the Mead Road Church Choir, Lobau Sunday School, Heavenly Echoes and Na Bure Sautu Family Choir. They will be judged by Master Lai Veikoso of the Conservatorium of Music, Mr Robin Palmer of the Fiji Arts Club Choir and Mr Paula Sotutu. The competition will continue on Saturday 12th and 19th with medium and large groups respectively.
The programme tomorrow begins at 10am, weather permitting, with entertainment from Vodafone MIC and Pacific Has Talent singers, while the Carolling Challenge will begin at midday. Miss Nailatikau will arrive at the Vodafone Triangle at 12.30 and there will be giveaways for the audience.
