Fiji born Bollywood Star arrives

Fiji-born Bollywood artist, Aiysha, dubbed the Indian pop queen of the Pacific, arrives at Nadi airport tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday 22nd) on board FJ 920 ahead of her 31 Twelve performance at the Vodafone Arena on New Year’s Eve where she will head a line-up of overseas DJ’s  and Bollywood dancers to ring in the new year. 
 
The qualified accountant, who called Samabula her first home and lived most of her life in Australia before moving to India, first performed in concert in Fiji in 2005.  She wowed the crowd when she sang in Punjabi, Hindi, English and Fijian; bringing them to their feet when she sang “E ra bini tu”, made famous by the late Lia Osbourne.
 
According to Aiysha’s manager Mohammed Jalal, himself an ex student of Suva’s Marist Brother’s High School, the songbird actively promotes Fiji during her tours.
 
According to a release from her office, “Aiysha is very proud of her Fijian heritage and has written the track “My Fiji” to show the world her home.”
 
 While in the country, “Aiysha will release an album consisting of English, Hindi and Punjabi songs and will shoot music videos showing all the beautiful locations of Fiji to show to the world,” the release adds.  
 
Aiysha’s Bollywood career was launched in June, 2005 by acclaimed directors Abbas-Mastan.  She has since performed in front of tens of thousands at the International Film Festival of India, the Film Fare Awards in Hydrabad, India as well as releasing albums and music videos worldwide.
 
The Fiji tour has been made possible by Vodafone and Fiji Broadcasting and will culminate with the New Year’s Eve performance at the Vodafone Arena.
