Vodafone Launches Online Shopping8th November, 2008
Vodafone Fiji today (Saturday 8th November) unveiled Vodafone eShop, an extension of its current website. The existing site while providing information about Vodafone also allows our customers interactive and efficient services together with the facility to Top Up any Vodafone prepaid mobile number via the internet through the Web-Top Up service. The newest feature through eShop will facilitate customers to purchase goods and accessories online. Customers can either purchase goods and accessories for themselves or as gifts for their friends and families in Fiji from anywhere around the world. This means anyone with a Visa or MasterCard can now purchase a range of Vodafone products and services online at their own time and convenience.
“Vodafone is constantly looking for new and innovative ways to better serve its customers” said Chaminda Senewiratne, Vodafone Fiji’s Manager Value Added Services & Product Development. “The e-shop underscores our commitment to providing service excellence that our customers expect from the Number 1 mobile network in Fiji.
Vodafone eshop is the answer to the many former Fiji residence living abroad who would like to buy mobile phones and accessories for their loved ones back home. The online medium is the cheapest, most convenient and safest means to ensure products purchased and delivered to the rightful owner in the shortest possible time.
In July this year, we launched Web Top-Up service. We were completely taken by surprise with the success of online top up service. The long held belief that Fiji consumers are not ready for e-commerce is a thing of the past. On the contrary, it has been proven that Fiji consumers are quite savvy with online purchases. With the launch of our e-shop we’ve taken another step toward ensuring our customers have a great experience shopping online with ease and at their convenience.”
Through our on line service, shoppers are now able to purchase a wide range of mobile phones, credit top up for themselves or loved ones and also have access to great promotional offers available through eShop from time to time. Mobile accessories and other merchandise will also be available for purchase online.
The eShop’s search feature allows shoppers to search for products and services easily, with a filtering option to narrow a search using a number of criteria including brand, features, specification and price. Shoppers can also compare up to three phones at a time with their prices and features side by side on one screen.
Another feature of Eshop online service allows customers to choose between having purchases delivered to Fiji street addresses for a small fee. We have teamed up with DHL Fiji Limited for products purchased online to be couriered to the nominated address. Alternatively, the product could be picked up from any Vodafone retail shop for free with any valid ID.
“In addition the customer can keep track of their purchase from the time of purchase to the time of delivery via the Vodafone eShop together with their door to door delivery partner DHL. The door to door feature is unique in Fiji. It allows the customer to track the goods via SMS, E-mail, telephone or online portal. This is first such implementation where end to end tracking has been integrated to an online delivery system in Fiji” Senewiratne said, “The customer also has the option of asking the recipient of the goods to pick it up from an Authorized Vodafone Retail store. Hence at the time of purchase processes are initiated. Once the customer has gone through the process of selecting and purchasing a good online he/she receives a receipt via email which informs him/her that the purchase is being processed.
Meanwhile, alerts are sent to Vodafone administration to initiate the delivery, and based on whether the delivery is door to door or Retail shop pick up, multiple personnel will be informed of the delivery. The recipient of the phone or goods will also be informed either by email or Text Message (SMS) or both that an item has been purchased for them at the Vodafone e-shop and will be provided details of delivery. This feature is optional for the customer to include. If the customer wishes to maintain the element of surprise for the recipient, he may choose not to inform the recipient.
Finally, if the customer chooses to have the purchase picked up from a Vodafone shop, the Authorized personnel of the chosen shop will receive an alert informing him/her of who will be coming for pick up. The recipient of the goods will receive an email or sms telling them their item is waiting for pick up from a specific retail store. In both cases of delivery, whether “Pick up” or “door to door” delivery, the customer will get an email update, confirming that their purchase has been picked up or delivered to the recipient.”
“Vodafone strives to deliver an experience that delights customers. All our products and services are developed with the convenience of our customers in mind, reminding them that Vodafone is always just around the corner or as close as a mouse-click away,” Senewiratne added.
The Vodafone e-shop is at www.vodafone.com.fj/eshop and accepts Visa and MasterCard.
