Vodafone Subrail Park – that’s the new name of the Labasa Town Council facility at Park Street in Labasa Town.
The announcement was made this morning by Vodafone Fiji Corporate Affairs Manager Mr. Shailendra Prasad and the Labasa Town Council Mayor Dr Pradeep Singh
Vodafone has also secured naming right to the Vodafone Prince Charles Park, the Vodafone Ratu Cakobau Park and the Vodafone Arena.
Prasad said the sponsorships were appropriate because they met Vodafone Fiji’s objective of being involved with the community and most major national community events.
Prasad said the sponsorships for the Vodafone - Subrail Park, Prince Charles Park and the Ratu Cakobau Park will help the local council’s maintain and upgrade the parks which will host weekly activities and events.
“In doing so we're assisting the three councils to create a safe and more comfortable environment for members of the public to enjoy their activities and sports with proper infrastructure in place,” he said.
Prasad said Vodafone has a global vision “to care for the world around us”.
“Driven by this vision, Vodafone has over the past year sponsored Fiji’s premier community carnival, the Hibiscus Festival, as well as several festivals throughout Fiji,” he said.
“Vodafone Fiji is convinced that the secret to successful commercial activity is largely dependent on its corporate responsibility toward the development of the community in which we operate.”
Labasa Town Council Town Clerk Jitendra Prasad said the Council was extremely pleased to have Vodafone Fiji coming on board. This partnership will allow us to have more games and assist the council to upgrade the facilities which will benefit the general public and provide a safe and welcoming environment. With the current situation we're thankful to Vodafone for assisting us in the North and hopefully this will set trend to other companies to invest here in the North as well.
We look forward providing the Northerners a top class field which will be in par with the rest of Viti Levu's facilities
