League Vodafone Cup 2008 Launched

Ten clubs will be competing for the Vodafone Cup challenge launched at the Vodafone HQ today. The 15 weeks competition commenced today between Traps City Stomers and last year’s semi finalist Korovou Raiders.
Tomorrow the competition will continue straight after the Secondary School competition which will be held at the National Stadium from 9 am
FNRL also announced apparel sponsor for the Vodafone Cup which is Kooga for the participating team and Sports World for the officials, referees and touch judges
In launching the tournament Fiji Rugby League, the Chairman Mr. Peni Musunamasi acknowledged the support of Vodafone, Musunamasi said, through Vodafone’s sponsorship; Rugby League in Fiji has grown in leaps and bounds in the last 2 years. To cap it off with a gold winning performance in the SPG and qualifying for this year’s World Cup is a fantastic feeling and it only augurs well for the future of the sport in country.
With competition held every week Musunamasi is confident that the competition will be bigger and tougher and will provide the platform to select a powerful Bati side to the League World later this year.
The tournament will be held in two divisions with Western hosting games for Nadi and Lautoka Clubs and Suva hosting the Eastern Conference.
