(Suva, Fiji, July 2, 2012) Edge Management Group [EMG] is proud to announce Vodafone as the Naming Rights and Gold Sponsor of the Play Fair Brazil Fiji Tour 2012. The tour will now be called the ‘Vodafone Play Fair Brazil Fiji Tour-2012’.
The tour will mark a historic occasion for football in the country with a first ever Brazilian Football Team gracing our shores and showcasing their world renowned samba brand of football. The first game between the Fiji National Football Team and the touring Play Fair Brazil Team has been shifted from Princes Charles Park in Nadi to Churchill Park in Lautoka. This will allow spectators to enjoy watching world class football players playing on an international standard pitch.

The team is laden with former Brazilian stars and some of them still playing competitive soccer in Europe and Soth America. Although there is still no confirmation on Cafu’s (the captain of the 2006 Soccer World Cup winning Brazilian side) presence, the team’s assistant coach Ricardo Ximenes has confirmed ‘Carlos Luciano da Silva’ better known as Mineiro as the latest high profile player to join the team on the ‘Vodafone Play Fair Brazil Fiji Tour-2012’. Mineiro accompanied the Brazil national team to the 2006 FIFA World Cup in South Africa and is famously known for scoring the winning goal for Sao Paulo against Liverpool in the final of the 2005 FIFA Club World Championship in Japan.
With Vodafone’s sponsorship, EMG is delighted to also announce that ticket prices to the games have been reduced with grandstand tickets costing between $15- $30, ground tickets at $10 for adults and $5 for children below 16 years of age. A limited number of VIP tickets can be purchased for $50. Tickets will go on sale in mid-July.
Vodafone’s Acting Managing Director Mr Pradeep Lal said, “we are providing a once in a lifetime opportunity to our soccer fans to witness a world class soccer team right here in our backyard. Realistically, this is probably the closest 99.99% of us will ever get see a team from a country that is synonymous with Soccer World Cup.
“With the quality of players available in Brazil, they could easily pick ten or more national teams. Whilst some of players on tour to Fiji have played in the Brazilian National Team, many of the others could easily have made it into their own or many other national teams around the world. Such is the level of talent in Brazil.
Vodafone Fiji has been supporting soccer in Fiji for a number of years now. Like many other firsts, Vodafone is proud to partner Edge Management to bring to Fiji this world class Play Fair Brazil side on tour to Fiji for two matches against our national team.
As part of its sponsorship, Vodafone has secured 650 prime location grandstand tickets for two the venues in Lautoka and Ba. Vodafone is expected to announce a “text and win” promotion commencing next week that will allow Vodafone customers a chance to win the 650 prime location grandstand tickets to watch the matches live for free, The winners of these tickets will also have a cordoned off area specially reserved to ensure they get the best seats to enjoy the two matches. Fans will also get opportunities for photo sessions with the team and chance to win autographed soccer merchandise.
Vodafone is working towards making this a memorable soccer experience for the soccer loving public in Fiji and at the same time rekindle interest in the sports at the grassroots level with some organized soccer clinics involving the touring players.
