Residents of the Home of Compassion on Suva’s Princes Road received some Easter Cheer in the form of food and a visit courtesy of the staff of Vodafone yesterday (Monday 6th).
Staff of the Home were moved to tears when a dozen Vodafone employees converged on the property at lunch-time and began unloading cartons of food including fruit and frozen chickens from their vehicles.
“Vodafone is passionate about the world around us and this passion translates to action,” Ligavatu Gukisuva, Vodafone’s Sponsorship Manager told the residents and staff.
“Our staff realize just how fortunate we are so we have payroll deductions to fund visits like this one. This neither the first nor the last time we will be visiting the Home ,” he added.
Sister Lusiana of the Home said that not unlike many other homes where the elderly or destitute lived, they often had to rely on the kindness of others.
“We all know times are hard, so for Vodafone staff to think of us and visit us with all this food really touches our heart.”
