InterPhone Study (Last Updated: 08-12-2008)
The INTERPHONE project is a multi-national series of epidemiological studies testing whether using mobile phones increases the risk of various cancers in the head and neck.
Overall, the published national studies to date provide no evidence of an increased risk up to 10 years of use. Some analyses based on small numbers of subjects suggest a possible increased risk beyond 10 years but IARC cautions that these findings may be 'causal or artifactual' as there is some evidence of participation bias and differential recall between cases and controls.

Vodafone Response - WHERE DO YOU KEEP YOUR CELLPHONE? REALLY MATTERS : (Last Updated: 27-07-2009)
Over 50 years of scientific research has already been conducted into the possible health effects from mobile phones, base stations and other wireless services.
The data from this research has been analysed by many expert review groups. Weighing the whole body of evidence, there is no evidence to convince experts that exposure below the guidelines set by the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) carries any health risks, for adults or children.
On mobile phone safety the World Health Organization advise,
“The overall evidence available to date does not suggest that the use of mobile phones has any detrimental effect on human health.
Typical exposure levels at home and in the environment, 2007 http://www.who.int/peh-emf/about/WhatisEMF/en/index3.html
The EMF safety guidelines for mobile phones recommended by the World Health Organization do include children, and incorporate a large safety margin
With respect to children the WHO advise,
The ICNIRP guidelines were developed to limit human exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMF) under conditions of maximum absorption of the fields, which rarely occurs, and the limits incorporate large safety factors to protect workers and even larger safety factors to protect the general public, including children. Thus, the limits in the ICNIRP guidelines are highly protective and are based on all the available scientific evidence.

WHERE DO YOU KEEP YOUR CELLPHONE? REALLY MATTERS
At the rate at which we are going, we might have to LIVE life like in the Stone Age to survive all the ills of modern technology. Please read!
'LADIES BE CARE FULL'
This is a true and sad story of women, who was always having abortions.
When the fetus gets to be 2-3 months old she loses it. This happened several times over.
The couple went to check with many doctors and at last one of the doctors examined the dead baby and found that the baby's body cells kept dying as the baby was growing in the womb until he/she could not survive. This was because her uterus was affected by CELLPHONE Radiation.
The doctor told her she now has no chance to give birth to a healthy baby because the radiation has affected her uterus so that the major portion of the cells in her uterus have already died.
This happened because she has been keeping her CELLPHONE in her working jacket so that the phone rested against just on the right spot of the uterus.. She had been wearing it like this for a few years.
Please beware of this and take note if you don't want what has happened to this woman to happen to you.
Dearest friends & family members,
Please do not ignore CELLPHONE radiation which will damage our health or body organs.
Please put away your CELLPHONE when ever you don't need it much.
Guys, Please do not keep your CELLPHONE near to the kidney position and pants pocket as this will damage your genital area and affect your ability to father a baby.
Please do not keep your CELLPHONE near to your new born baby to avoid radiation damage to the baby's brain cells.
Please do not let the baby or toddler play with the CELLPHONE. This is because the small young baby or toddler is still very fragile and growing, so he/she is much more vulnerable to radiation damage.
Please remember not to sleep together with your CELLPHONE or put it next to your bed.
Keep any other electronic goods (such as TV) which also give off radiation away from your bedroom to reduce risk as we have to sleep a few hours every day in our bedroom at night.
Further, do not imagine that if you switch off the TV there will be no radiation. Actually it is still around in your room.
It is not advisable to have even a small digital alarm clock close to your head while sleeping.
Take Care of yourself and your loved ones & please pass this on to your friends and family.
Don't Answer Cell Phone While Charging (Last Updated: 05-12-2008)
This myth is busted at http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/bl_cell_phone_electrocuted.htm which says (quote):
"Assuming the report was accurate, it is fair to conclude that either the phone or the charger was defective, given that 1) I could find no other reports of people being electrocuted while using a charging cell phone, 2) under normal circumstances the current flowing into a charging cell phone ought not to be strong enough to kill anyone, and 3) neither manufacturers nor consumer agencies warn customers against using mobile phones while they are being charged.
Under the circumstances, therefore, it would seem excessive to label the ubiquitous device "an instrument of death."
Which is not to say no one has ever been injured by a cell phone. Over the past few years there have been numerous reports of cell phones exploding or catching fire, causing injury to their owners. Most of these incidents were blamed on the use of unauthorized and/or faulty batteries.
Safety Precautions.
To prevent such mishaps, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has recommended safety precautions which include the following:
Don't use incompatible/unauthorized cell phone batteries and chargers.
Don't tamper with the battery or allow it to be punctured, crushed, or come into contact with metal objects outside the phone.
Avoid damaging the phone by dropping it, keeping it where it can become overheated, or allowing it to get wet.
Follow manufacturers' instructions for battery usage, storage, and recharging." (unquote)
Hoax SMS: Surprises Award, Japan Africa Motor Show (Last Updated: 05-12-2008)
Vodafone wishes to advise all its customers that currently there is a hoax messages being sent to a number of Vodafone mobile numbers. The message has been traced to originate from a mobile number out of Tanzania in Africa. The message read as “SURPRISES AWARDS” JAPAN AFRICA MOTOR SHOW : YOU ARE A LUCKY WINNER OF A TOYOTA PRADO: THROUGH : MOBILE GOBBLE INTERNET. CALL COLLINS HORNS 254722596663”
We have for now blocked the particular mobile number ( 255-765-994-516) from sending any more text message to Vodafone Fiji network. However, the sender could still use other mobile numbers to send the text message.
We would like to advise customers that message is a hoax with an intention to defraud the subscriber.
“Vodafone is a provider of a mobile communications network. What gets communicated using our platform is not subject to any screening by Vodafone because of the statutory requirement to provide complete confidentiality and privacy on all subscriber communications. Any interference would be a breach and invasion of consumer privacy.”
One may ask how fraud operator from Tanzania gets a customer’s mobile number in Fiji.
• It is common knowledge that Vodafone mobile numbers in Fiji start with number “9” and have seven digits in total. Therefore, if someone picked a seven digit number starting with number “9”, they most likely are able to pick a correct mobile number to send the text message. We suspect that this is what is happening in this case.
• Secondly, there are many bogus website on the net that require registration details including contact details. If in any instance a customer has registered his/her mobile number as part of the email registration then this could be another potential source of information for the scam operators.
Customer privacy is of paramount importance to maintain integrity of Vodafone network. We do not and neither do we wish to intrude or pry into any content which is communicated between senders and receivers.
1. We act quickly to block numbers that send hoax message from overseas networks as soon as these are brought to our attention. However, there are always individuals who will try and make a “quick buck” through bogus means and scams. There is no definite control or mechanism in place to prevent such spam messages and scams. However, if an offer looks to good to be true and asks for advance payment before getting the reward, it must most likely is an organized fraud or scam.
2. Secondly, as a user of a Vodafone mobile, we advise our customers that they must always ask themselves a question when they receive such a hoax text message. If you have not participated in any promotion, then you should not expect to win something? It most likely is a hoax.
In such instances, individuals must refer all information to appropriate authorities for clarification.
Vodafone advertises all it promotions and winners through the local media in a fair and transparent manner.
