What is Premium Text?
Premium Txt takes you to the next level of the TXT world. Now, all Business (Postpay) subscribers can use Vodafone’s Premium Txt Services. These services include Java games, Ringtones, Wallpapers, Txt competitions, News subscriptions, Hello Tunes and many more that were previously only available to Prepay customers.
It allows all Vodafone Prepay and Postpay subscribers to use new and exciting things that are happening around them by simply sending messages to short codes. Premium Texts are charged at a higher rate than normal SMS.
Who is it for?
Premium Txt is available to all Vodafone Postpay and Prepay customers.
What types of services can I access with Premium Text?
Premium Txt allows you to participate in Txt competitions, remember loved ones by sending song dedications over the radio, download games, ringtones, wallpapers and much more.
How do I use the Premium Service?
It’s simple! For all Txt competitions and dedication lines, just send a normal SMS to the respective short code e.g. 4445. For other services like downloading polyphonic ringtones, wallpapers, and Java games, you first need your phone to be configured for WAP. Not all Fones are compatible and therefore you need to check with Vodafone if your handset supports the content you wish to download. Simply call our Customer Care by calling our toll free line on 125 (for Postpay) and 124 (for Prepay).
How do I know if my phone is compatible?
Almost all phones support Txt (SMS), however for WAP services, any GPRS supported handset is compatible. To find out if your phone is a GPRS supported handset, simply check with our Customer Care by calling our toll free line on 125 (for Postpay) and 124 (for Prepay).
How much does it cost to access the service?
Charges vary for different content. Check our daily newspaper for details or call our Customer Care by calling our toll free line on 125 (for Postpay) and 124 (for Prepay).
How will I be charged for the service that I access?
It will appear as a normal SMS Text on your bill printout but under call type it will be shown as MC (Mobile Commerce).
Can I access all services on my phone?
No, not all handsets support all services. Some handsets are compatible with either, games, ringtones or wallpapers only. The best thing to do is to check with Vodafone or with the content providers.
What do I need to do first if I want to use WAP services?
Call our Customer Care by calling our toll free line on 125 (for Postpay) and 124 (for Prepay). They will help you set up your phone. Alternatively ask them to send either the OTA or OMA settings to your phone. Upon receiving the settings you will need to save it then you are ready to start accessing WAP services.
How do I know the type of settings that need to be sent to my phone?
Check your phone port settings. If your port is on 8080 you will need OMA settings sent, if it’s on port 9201 you will need OTA settings sent to your phone. If you forget all this or are confused, not to worry, simply call our Customer Care and they will be happy to help.
How do I manually configure my Phone if it does not support OMA/OTA settings?
Simply call our Customer Care for directions. They will assist you in setting up your WAP settings manually.

What happens if I use the service before my Phone is setup?
You will receive the tone downloaded but will not be able to retrieve the download because the phone is not setup.
Will I be charged for downloads that were not successful?
Yes, txts sent to a valid code are charged even if the phone is not a compatible model, but in any unlikely event that you do get charged, please call Vodafone Customer Care.
Important Note:
- Currently BlackBerry handsets do not fully support Java Games and Wallpapers, we will advise once it’s ready.
- BlackBerry phones with the Operating System version 4.2 and above supports WAP, customers that are currently using BB 8707 Operating System version 4.1 will need to bring their phone in for software upgrade.
