1. What is Vodafone’s New G Network?

New G is a high speed data Network which allows you to download and upload data at very high speeds within the New G Network coverage areas. Vodafone’s New G High Speed Network is powered by High Speed Packet Access (HSPA), one of the latest evolutions in wireless data transfer technology. HSPA combines the features of High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) and High Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA). Services include wide-area wireless voice telephony, video calls, and broadband wireless data, all in a mobile environment.

2. What are some of the new services available on Vodafone’s New G Network?


Mobile Broadband Internet, Video Calls and Content Downloads. Later Vodafone will introduce live streaming, interactive multimedia, and other services. Stay tuned for more information.

3. What is the coverage area of Vodafone’s New G Network?


Currently coverage extends from Lami to Nausori corridor, selected parts of Pacific Harbour, Deuba, Coral Coast, Sigatoka, Nadi, Lautoka, Ba Town, Tavua Town and RakiRaki Town areas.

4. Can I stream videos and audio using Vodafone’s FlashNet?


Yes you can. However, streaming is data intensive, and this could consume your monthly data cap very quickly.

5. Can I send SMS (TXT Messages) from the FlashNet dashboard?


Yes you can. The dashboard allows you to send and receive SMS. This is not covered within the data usage and the fixed monthly rental. You will be charged separately for sending SMS from the FlashNet dashboard.

6. What speeds will I experience when downloading?

The Network supports broadband speeds from an average of approximately 128kbps to a maximum of 1 Mbps. This speed may fluctuate at times due to various factors. This includes but is not limited to distance from base station, signal strength, terrain, site from which content is downloaded from, bandwidth allowed from Internet sites, servers and the end user computer performance.

7. What is the charge for FlashNet?


The modem cost $249.00 (VIP) and on-going monthly charges apply for subscribing to FlashNet plans. Normal vetting and connection procedure applies for getting connected to the FlashNet service. Please refer over leaf for more information on new Flashnet plans.

8. Is there a penalty for termination of Mobile Broadband (FlashNet) service?

There is no penalty for termination. However, the subscriber will be liable to pay any outstanding bills.

9. Where can I sign up for Vodafone’s FlashNet Services?

To sign up, visit any Vodafone Retail or authorized dealer outlets.

10. Will I be able to roam with my FlashNet?

No, data roaming on FlashNet is not available. Once available, this will be communicated. Additional charges will apply for data roaming. Check updates on www.vodafone.com.fj/flashnet

11. Do I get a free FlashNet modem if I lose or damage the device?

No, if the modem is damaged, lost or stolen, Vodafone will not replace it. In such cases, the subscriber has to purchase a replacement FlashNet modem to continue with the service. .

12. How do I track my FlashNet data usage?

You can track your data usage on the FlashNet dashboard if you use your device on a single user PC/Laptop. If you use it on multiple PC/Laptops, you will not be able to track usage. On the FlashNet interface (dashboard), go to ‘View usage’. -> ‘Volumebased’ or ‘Time-based’. You can also set your data limit by clicking onto the ‘Set Limit’ button.
Example: 10000Mb = 10GB (For simplicity of calculation, 10000Mb = 10GB).
Note: This is a good way to track approximate data usage. You will also receive SMS alerts on your FlashNet dashboard upon reaching 90% of your limits and exceeding your limits.

13. What happens if I move out of Vodafone’s New G coverage?


If the connection is set to Auto, then the connection will fall to GPRS speeds of 56kbps. This means that you will be seamlessly transferred to GPRS depending on the service availability of the base station you are locked onto. If the connection is set to manual and locked onto 3G only, then the connection will drop and you will need to manually reconnect to GPRS.

14. How do I know if I am logged correctly onto 3G or GPRS?

The LED light on your USB FlashNet indicates mobile network connectivity.
• Green blinking - A GPRS network has been detected – you could connect
• Green solid - Connected via GPRS
• Blue blinking - A 3G network has been detected – you could connect
• Blue solid - Connected via 3G
