Data Roaming

Vodafone Fiji sent the attached letter as an insert in the March bills to all its valued Postpaid customers, informing them about the implementation of data roaming charges with effect from 1st April, 2010. 

 

Subsequently, SMS broadcasts were also sent and account managed customers were also informed through their respective Account Managers. More information was also made available on the Vodafone Fiji website: Data Roaming.

 

Since then we have received a number of feedbacks and requests from our customers for reconsideration of the outbound data roaming charges. We have been able to make a case with our overseas roaming partners to revisit the roaming charges and review the rates in light of customer feedback. We are happy to advise that we have successfully re-negotiated the rates from $30 - $70 per megabyte down to a flat rate of $25 per megabyte. The $25 per megabyte rate is applicable to all outbound data roaming networks that Vodafone Fiji has outbound data roaming agreements with.

 

Data roaming rates are generally expensive as overseas operators charge and bill in AUD, EUR and USD currencies. Vodafone Fiji customers settle in FJD currency, hence, the rates naturally increase due to foreign exchange rate conversion factor, which in most cases is against the Fiji dollar.
