Installation Guide

 System Requirements

To use this USB FlashNet and the Vodafone Mobile Connect software, you need:
  • A computer running Microsoft® Windows Vista™, Windows® XP or Windows® 2000, or an Apple Macintosh running Mac OS® X 10.3.9 or above
  • At least 50 MB free disk space and 256 MB RAM memory
  • A USB port
  • Administrator rights on your computer.
1. Remove the cap from the end of the USB FlashNet. Pull out the SIM holder from its slot, and insert your Vodafone Fiji data SIM as shown.
A file with the same name is already available.
3. If you are using a MicroSD memory card with your FlashNet (to allow your FlashNet to behave as a flash memory drive), insert the card as shown. (Note: Micro SD card is not included in the package)

4. Plug the USB FlashNet firmly into your computer’s USB port.

5. On Microsoft Windows computers

The software setup should start automatically within a few seconds. If for some reason the setup does not start, double-click the file called setup.exe on the USB FlashNet. Follow the on-screen instructions. Setting up your USB FlashNet may take a few minutes.

6. Installation begins

7. Once the setup is completed, the Vodafone Mobile Connect Lite software should start automatically. If for some reason the program does not start, select Vodafone Mobile Connect Lite from the Windows Start menu.

8.  Selecting a APN for prepay Broadband – by default all APN setting are included for Contract services, hence for those Prepay customers to enjoy their services the APN needs to be changed.

Go into Manage Connection> Click on “View” >

Select “New” Tab

Insert name for “New”  – Prepay Broadband &  Select “APN”

Insert : prepay.vfinternet.fj

Select “Ok”

Select Prepay Broadband by clicking on the “tick box”

Select “Ok”

You are now configured to use this service under prepay service.

9.  Setting the device on Vodafone 3G. Click onto ‘Manage Devices’ on the left pane of the FlashNet dashboard. Highlight ‘Huawei Mobile Connect – 3G Modem’, and click onto the ‘Edit’ button.

10. On the popup dialog box, click onto the ‘Network Preference’ tab and select ‘3G Only’.
Note: select this option only if you are certain that the location you are using the FlashNet has 3G coverage. Else you may select ‘3G Preferred’ or ‘GPRS Only’. GPRS speeds are slower than 3G and it is recommended that you choose 3G Only for FlashNet (provided that you are in New G coverage).

11. To set your usage or data limit, click on the ‘View Usage’ link, and select ‘Set Limit’. It is recommended that you change the default value to match your prescribed plan to track data usage. Example: 10000MB = 10GB/ 5000MB = 5GB/ 1000MB = 1GB. The ‘usage setting’ gives you only an approximate indication of your data usage, provided that it is used on a single PC/Laptop (for simplicity of calculation, 1000MB = 1GB).

12. Once you have set your volume/time limit, click onto the ‘OK’ button, and on your ‘Main View’ interface, click on ‘Connect’ to get connected, and begin surfing the Internet.
